Director: Rebecca Sadowski (Métis) and Tamarra Lessard

Canada | 2020 | 8 min

Cree/English | Experimental Short

A collaboration of Métis and contemporary dance, Cree and English translated poetry, and traditional finger- weaving, The Sash Maker promotes the healing of long- standing cultural wounds. The work communicates a collective yearning for family, understanding, and peace. By reflecting on our past, together we can move forward as people woven from diverse strands and circumstances.

Rebecca is an Edmonton-based Métis performer, choreographer, and dance instructor. She has recently joined the Good Women Dance Collective as a collective artist as well as a curator for the Nextfest Festival. She currently teaches dance with dancED Movement Project, and the City of Edmonton.
