Ayelén Lonconao Vargas (Mapuche) | Chile | 2020 | 21 min
Mapuzungun/Spanish w English Subtitles | Dramatic Short

Melissa is a young Mapuche woman who as a child emigrated with her family, from her lof mapu to the city, in search of better living conditions. Now as an adult, and about to graduate, she begins to experience unexplainable situations and dreams… she has received an ancestral call.

Ayelén was born in 1993, in Valparaiso, Chile, where she spent the first years of her life. Later she moves with her family to lof Kechukawin within the Aylla Rewe Budi region of Araucania. It is here that she grows up, taking part in socio-cultural activities representing her Mapuche, Lafkenche community.
